Exhibiting the popular culture １: The National Museum of Japanese History /「時代の流行」展示 １： 国立歴史民俗博物館

“Popular Culture” is a common theme in the museums around the world. 

And most of time, common everyday items like magazine, music, movie, fashion and toy are on display.

In this case, they focused on the toys from 50’s and 70’s to represent the era in that time.  I suppose those were about the period that curator and planner were in their childhood.

「時代の流行」は、洋の東西にかかわらず、博物館の展示ではよく扱われているテーマです。一般的に雑誌、音楽、映画、ファッションやおもちゃなどを使って展示が構成されてたりしています。

この展示では、50年代から70年代のおもちゃが並べられていました。ひょっとしたら関係した学芸員や展示プランナーの幼少時の時期に重なるのかもしれません。

The store carries the products, which received the Good Design Award, which established in 1957 and organized by JDP, Japan Institute of Design Promotion.

Good Design Marunouchi、東京丸の内

Season’s decoration: Takashimaya / 季節飾り：高島屋

This new year’s seasonal display is installed in the entrance space at Takashimaya department store in Nagoya.  The white lace banners were created by a textile artist, Hiroko Takahasi who hold PhD in dyeing and weaving.  The material was handmade Mino washi, traditional Japanese paper in Mino area, with her original design.

このお正月のディスプレーは、名古屋の高島屋にありました。白いレースのバナー状のものはテキスタイル工芸作家の高橋理子さんの作品で、彼女は染織の博士号も持っています。バナーは彼女のオリジナルデザインで、素材は手漉きの美濃和紙が使われています。

Isetan department stood at Sinjuku 3 chome corner has fun decoration on its building wall and show windows every year in this season.

This year, graffiti like colourful illustration and object filled and covered the front corner of the building.

I always look forward to see their challenging decoration every year.

新宿三丁目の交差点にある伊勢丹の壁面やショーウィンドゥには、毎年楽しいデコレーションで飾られます。

今年はまるで落書きのようなイラストやオブジェで建物正面の壁面やショーウィンドウが埋め尽くされています。

伊勢丹の挑戦的な試みのデコレーションを見るのを毎年楽しみにしています。
