Game style multi media exhibit using white model : Mitsubishi Minatomirai Industrial Museum /

White model with projected CG on top
In recent years, multimedia exhibits became normal technology in the museums.  Thus, exhibition planer/designer’ effort has been challenging how to intergrade the multimedia into exhibit’s physical space rather than just happening inside a small monitor.

This is one way of the solution, projecting the CG animation on the white landscape model from the ceiling and synchronizes the animation images with the touch screen monitor installed in front of the visitor for operating the game.

Instruction is shared with
large monitor on the ceiling
and small touch screen monitor
The white landscape model that filling the floor become a screen for the game story, much nice way to intergrade CG images in the exhibit space than seeing in the LC monitor.

The set up is;
・white landscape model (screen)
・ceiling projector
・large LC monitors suspended from ceiling for by stand visitors
・small touch screen monitor for game operation.

A Science centre that focused on the scientist rather than science itself 2: Miraikan /

Another example of human involvement on the exhibit is on the chorological table for the astronauts.  On the table, all astronauts who went up to the space, regardless of the nationality, gender and timing, photograph was displayed and best of all, some of the pictures have autograph of the particular person when he/she visited this building.

Also, life size replica of the ISS has astronauts autograph as well.

A Science centre that focused on the scientist rather than science itself: Miraikan /

This science centre was planed to focus on the leading edge science or its application rather than pure scientific phenomenon like ordinary science centres are exhibiting.
They also wanted to make science and technologies as a ‘culture’ that passed onto generations in society.  The concept was build the exhibit from scientist viewpoint and provide resonance with reality to the visitors.
Therefore, they decided to focus on the ‘person’, not the ‘object’.
This is the example of hearing opinion from leading scientists ‘ in person’   regarding to the need of International Space Station.

Giving science a human face is a good idea for reaching general public, especially younger generations.
