These are the fossils of aquatic dinosaurs installed in the space almost like a wide hallway in the Natural History Museum, London.

It is incredible to see great number of precious fossils tightly hanged side by side like this picture.

Indeed this is a museum with long history.

これらは,ロンドン自然史博物館の広めの廊下のような空間に展示されている水棲恐竜の化石です。こんな貴重な化石が、隙間無く壁に展示されているなんて凄い事ですよね。

長い歴史のある博物館はサスガです。

Integrated Display Table: Darwin Center, Natural History Museum, / 複合展示什器：ダーヴィンセンター、ロンドン自然史博物館

The bench in use by the second person 

This display table is integrated with a monitor, desktop screen for the ceiling  mounted projector and a card reader that scans the visitors access record.  For some tabletops are installed touch screen monitor or display case for the specimen as well.   The most important feature of this display table is the bench is included as the part of the display unit.  It became common to see some benches on the exhibit floor these days, but hardly see those resting place is blended into the display unit like this.

この展示什器はモニター、天井プロジェクター用のスクリーンやカードリーダーが組み合わされています。テーブルにはタッチスクリーンや資料ケースを組み込む事も出来ます。この展示什器で最も重要な機能は、ベンチが組み込まれている事です。今日では展示室内にベンチが置かれている事は良く見かけますが、展示什器にベンチが組み合わされている例はあまりありません。

These picture frames on the wall are the combination of the traditional picture frames and the digital picture frames.  By mixing several digital devices among the still picture frames, you can provide great number of different images without spending too much budget.  And also could prevent dull stillness.

This museum had been relocated early this year since I took these pictures.

壁面の額装写真は、実物写真のものとデジタル・フレームを混在させています。普通の額装写真の中にデジタルフレームをほんの数個混ぜるだけで、より多くの写真イメージを掲示する事が出来ますし、来館者を飽きさせない効果が期待できます。

この施設は写真撮影の後、今年のはじめに引っ越しをしました。

Kouji Sugi，a man who created own characters: Statistical Museum / 杉 享二・漢字を創ってしまった男：統計資料館

Short movie about Kouji Sugi

Kouji Sugi, born in 1828, became an orphan when he was a kid, studied Dutch when he was in early 20’s and in 1872 he became a head of statistics department for the Meiji government, the only 4 year old newly civilized Japanese government after the 'Shogun's' Edo government.

He was so involved in statistics and felt  necessary to create a new Kanji characters (Chinese origin character) for the word ‘Statistics’ since there were no words in Japanese to, then made up those charactors.

He put together some Kanji letters that pronounce similar to the English sound ‘statistics’.

Unfortunately, we no longer see these kanjis he created, too bad but nice try Sugi san!

杉　享二は1828年に生まれ、幼くして孤児となりオランダ語を20代前半に学び、1872年にまだ発足して４年目の明治政府の統計局の責任者となりました。

彼はそれまでに日本語に無かった「Statistics（統計）」という言葉を漢字で表す事が大切だと考え、創りだしました。

これは英語の「Statistics」に近い発音となるように、音を基に漢字を組み合わせたものでした。

残念ながら、今はこの言葉を見る事はありませんが、杉享二さん,一生懸命だったのですね！
