Exhibit room 7:  Cho jo no Ma

'Lighting by lantern' 

The room full of Kingyo shape lantern, originated from city of Yanai in Yamaguchi Prefecture and small round shape lanterns also from same prefecture were hanged in this room.

Because of their small size, rounded shape and natural red and beige colours, they look so cute when seeing this many numbers filled in a room against Japanese style interior as the backdrop.

提灯のあかり

金魚の形をした山口県柳井市の提灯と、同じ山口県の丸く小さな提灯たちが部屋を埋め尽くしています。

小さくて丸い形で、優しい生成りの赤と白の提灯がこんなにたくさん日本間に吊ってある景色は、とてもカワイイ感じがします。

'Lighting by Washi paper' 

Mino area in Gifu prefecture has been selected as Intangible Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO organization with other two locations across Japan.

The UNESCO valued Mino and other two areas history, process, materials, surrounding nature, craftsmanship and cultural activities for producing Washi, traditional Japanese style paper. 

The Mino Washi was known ay the work of artist Isamu Noguchi’s Akari series modern looking paper lamps.  In this exhibit, number of Washi lamp shades that perfectly fit into the Japanese interior room were on displayed.

和紙のあかり

岐阜県美濃地方と他２地方の和紙が、ユネスコの無形文化遺産に選ばれています。ユネスコは、美濃と２箇所の地域に伝わる和紙の歴史、製法、材料、自然環境、職人技などの文化全体の価値を認めたのです。

美濃の和紙は、イサムノグチの和紙を使った照明、あかりシリーズによってよく知られています。この展示では、伝統的な和室のしつらえに映える和紙を使った照明が展示されていました。

'Moon Light against dirk night' 

The artist who participated in this room’s art work was Eros Nakazato．

He is a littlee known in Japan but evidentiary a great contemporary Japanese artist who is active in world wide art scene.
