Show inside/ 内部の見せ方

There are number of different techniques for showing the internal mechanism when displayed in the exhibit.

Cross section, Exploded View and Transparent view, etc.

This is a cross section of the locomotive.  Huge full scale steel artifact is impressive.  Notice the colour paint on the interior parts for comparison.

機械等の内部の構造を展示施見せる上で、断面、分解、透視などいくつかの手法があります。

これは実物の蒸気機関車の断面を見せる展示で、迫力があります。内部の部品ごとに塗りわけられている事に注目。

The exploded view

It's useful technique for the machines with relatively small number of parts. If the machine has too many parts, the exploded display could be too complicating.

分解展示

部品数がある程度少ない機械には有効な手法です。もし部品数が多い機械を分解すると、あまりにも複雑になってしまう事があります。

An exhibit make invisible to visible : Tokyo Station Gallery / 見えない物を見えるように：東京ステーション ギャラリー

It looks like Internetional Space Station suspended from the ceiling

One of the purposes of making exhibit is try to make something visible otherwise invisible in real life. 

This is a good example of the visualization of the invisible phenomenon, underground development of Tokyo station.

Over the decades, the underground of surrounding area of Tokyo Station had been heavily developed.  Over the time, repeated development became so complicated, nobody could imagine how the Tokyo Station’s under world would look like anymore.

Fun to watch the details but look out for your head

Here it is, the professor and students from Showa Women’s University finally build the wood model for the underground maze, thank you.

展示を作る目的の一つに、実社会では目に見えない物を見えるようにするという事があります。この展示は「東京駅の地下開

発」という見えない物を視覚化した良い例です。

過去何十年にわたり、東京駅周辺の地下開発は多く行われました。その結果、あまりにも複雑になりすぎて、東京駅の地下の世界がどのようになっているのかがわからなくなりました。

そこで昭和女子大の教授と学生が、地下迷路の模型を作ってくれました。

Multi layered underground floors

Seeing is Believing 2：Nagoya Sewerage Science Center / 百聞は一見に如かず 2：名古屋下水道科学館

To show the fragile nature the City must conserve by treating sewerage before releasing to the river.  There is a small aquarium displaying the several fish one could spot in different area along the river stream, upper, middle and lower stream where their water source facilities are.（water intake, dam and estuary barrage)

It’s good, not only informing the value of the nature, but also living creature always attracts kids attention, too.

これは市が行っている、処理した下水を川に放水するにあたって、自然が如何にデリケートなのかを伝える展示です。

市が管理する川添いの施設（取水場、ダム、河口堰等）のある上流、中流、下流域に生息する種類が異なる魚達を展示している、小さな水族館です。

自然の価値を伝えるだけではなく、生き物好きの子どもたちには良い展示ですね。

This is a display for the recycled products made from sewerage sludge.  All are ceramic products that added treated sewerage with normal clay as the material. 

Some products are more utility purpose like side walks blocs or sewerage pipe that buried under ground.  But some are pretty household products like flower vase.

Sometime, or most of times I might want to say, it better to show the real artifact like this than lecturing by text.

これは下水の汚泥をリサイクルして作った製品の展示です。全て陶器製で、粘土に処理をした汚泥を混ぜた物です。歩道ブロックや地中に埋める下水管のような実用一辺倒な製品から、家庭内でも使えるカワイイ花瓶まで幅広く使われています。

時には,（私的にはほとんどの場合でと思いますが…）文字で解説するより、このように実物を見てもらった方がわかりやすいですよね。

Other type of the cultural aspect on the space is this meditation area．The visitor could choose favorite seat and enjoy watching the Cosmo images projected onto the screen in the quiet and dim space
