A Monument for a Historical Event : Tamachi / 歴史的な出来事の記念碑：田町

The Edo, Shogun’s government, ruled Japan over 260 years and had became deteriorate in the final decades because of the institutional fatigue under single central government too long, revels from rural clans overthrow the aged government at last.

Since Shogun government was organized by samurai worrier, many of them was willing to sacrifice themselves that might possibly burn down entire city of Edo that said to be a home for 1 million population.

To avoid the worst bloodshed, government representative Kaishu Katsu and revel leader Nanshu (a.k.a. Takamori) Saigo secretly met in a house in Tamachi.

Fortunately, Edo government agreed to surrender without any resistance.

There is a Monument build in front of the location where the meeting place was and even a street map shows the location and brief description on the meeting.

260年以上の長きにわたり専制君主制で統治していた江戸幕府も、末期には制度疲労を起こし最後には地方の雄藩によって倒幕されてしましました。

江戸幕府は武士の集まりでしたから自分を犠牲にしてでも徹底抗戦を唱える者も多く、最悪の場合は当時100万人の人口を誇っていたとも言わる江戸の町が、灰燼に期す恐れもありました。

最悪の流血事態を回避するため、幕府側の勝海舟と維新のリーダー西郷南洲（隆盛）が密かに薩摩藩江戸屋敷で会談を行いました。幸い、江戸幕府は無血開城に同意しました。

この会談が行われた場所には記念碑が建っていて、町の案内地図にも場所と会談についての解説が記されています。

Niki de Saint Phalle : The National Art Center, Tokyo / ニキド サンファル展：新国立美術館

It was a great exhibit covering her early to latest work that clearly shows how talented artist she was.  Also, there are dozen of private picture letters for a Japanese collector of her works who became a life long friend, Yoko Masuda Shizue.  I was glad to have a chance to see Niki de Saint Phalle’s creative work, which only created privetry for her trusted friend.

Only two of her works with strictly fixed camera position were allowed to take pictures.

この展覧会は初期から晩年までの作品が展示され、彼女の優れた造形力が印象的でした。また、日本での彼女の作品のコレクターで生涯の友人となった、ヨーコ増田静江さんに送った絵手紙も何点か展示されていました。ニキデ　サンファルが信頼していた友人に送ったプライベートな創作作品を見る事ができたのが素晴らしかったです。

写真の撮影アングルを限定された状態ですが、２点だけ撮影する事が許されていました。

The world of Eric Carle 1: Digital Picture Book Museum / はらぺこあおむし展 1 色で遊ぶ、学ぶ：デジタルえほんミュージアム

There had been a well-planned small exhibit in the Digital Picture Book Museum at dot DNP Communication Plaza, ‘The World of Eric Carle’.

This exhibit examines how the world famous  picture book artist, Eric Carle, created his collage pictures by using his signature coloured paper.

Visitor could see how he painted the paper, showing how much painted colour paper he used for making just a small bird figure, find and match the same patterned paper to the sample pictures, and even chance to make Origami figure with the same pattered replica paper at the workshop table.

Charm of the works of Eric Carle

Collage, Story and Rhythm

「どっとDNPコミュニケーションプラザ」の「デジタルえほんミュージアム」では、小さいながらもとても充実した「はらぺこあおむし展 1　色で遊ぶ、学ぶ」が開催されていました。

この展覧会では、世界的に有名な絵本作家エリック・カール氏が、彩色をした紙を重ねたコラージュ画をどのように制作していたのかを検証することができます。

来館者は、カール氏がどのように紙に色付けをしているのか、小さな小鳥の絵を創るのにいかに沢山の色付き紙を使っているのか、同じ柄の色付き紙がどの絵に使われているのかを探したり、ワークショップのテーブルではエリック・カールの着色した紙のレプリカを使って折り紙を折ることも出来ます。
