Isetan department stood at Sinjuku 3 chome corner has fun decoration on its building wall and show windows every year in this season.

This year, graffiti like colourful illustration and object filled and covered the front corner of the building.

I always look forward to see their challenging decoration every year.

新宿三丁目の交差点にある伊勢丹の壁面やショーウィンドゥには、毎年楽しいデコレーションで飾られます。

今年はまるで落書きのようなイラストやオブジェで建物正面の壁面やショーウィンドウが埋め尽くされています。

伊勢丹の挑戦的な試みのデコレーションを見るのを毎年楽しみにしています。

Season’s decoration: Tokyo Midtown / 季節の飾り付け：東京ミッドタウン

There are delicate looking season’s decoration hanged in the big open elevator space at Tokyo Midtown, one of the high end shopping mall in Tokyo.

The ornament was simply made, countless pieces of rainbow colored semi-transparent film were cut in snow flake shakes, pierce together by fish line and suspended from the ceiling.  Its simple, light weight, less expensive and best of all, elegant.

東京にある高級商業施設の一つ東京ミッドタウンの冬季の飾り付けです。

半透明で虹色のフィルムで雪の形を何千と切り抜き、テグス糸でつなげて天井から吊り下げただけのシンプルな装飾です。

簡単なつくり、軽量でローコストですが、見た目はとってもエレガントです。

Exhibit in Public Space: Cocoon City / 公共の場の展示：コクーンシティ

In this shopping mall I found a wall of a small aisle towards wash room, smoking room and coin lockers is also used as the display space for introducing Katakura Omiya factory’s chronological tables.

This shopping mall, Cocoon City is developed on the large open land where Katakura Omiya factory, silk yarn-making factory, used to stand.

It’s nice to see putting this type of display in the place like shopping mall to remind people what the history of the location you       
are standing.

ショッピングモール内のトイレや喫煙室、コインロッカーに続く狭い通路の壁に、片倉工業の大宮工場の年表が掲示されているのを見つけました。

この商業施設コクーンシティは、片倉工業の大宮工場の広大な跡地を開発して建てられていたのです。

商業施設内に立地場所の歴史を伝える展示を作る事は、とても良い試みだと思います。

A newly opened shopping mall complex, Cocoon City in Saitama Shintoshin area had been built on a former silk yarn-making factory location that owned by Katakura Industries Co., Ltd.  Interestingly, Katakura used to manufactured well-crafted steel frame bicycles under ‘Katakura Silk’ brand  that provided the track racers for Japanese National team during 1960 Tokyo Olympic.

There is a small gallery designated to display pictures and old map for introducing the Katakura and mall location’s history.

Also, Katakura Omiya factory’s

chronological tables are displayed on a small corridor towards utility area.

さいたま新都心に新しくできた複合ショッピングモールのコクーンシティは、かつて片倉工業の絹糸の製糸工場跡地に建てられました。実は、片倉はかつて「片倉シルク」というブランド名で鉄フレームの自転車を製造していて、1960年の東京オリンピック時には日本の自転車ナショナルチーム用にトラックレーサーを供給していたのです。

コクーンシティの中には小さなギャラリーがあり、写真や地図で片倉の製糸工場やモールの立地場所を紹介しています。

また、モール内の裏方への通路にも片倉の大宮工場の年表が掲示されています。

There is a modest mosaic art installed on a floor inside the ticket booth area in Saitama Shintosin Station.

The art work itself is less assertive and no nameplate or what so ever.  I couldn’t fined any clue on who created this art work on the location or on the web.

この控えめなモザイク作品は新都心駅の改札を入ったところの床に設置されていました。現場には作家名などの銘板も見当たらず、ネットで調べても誰の作品なのかはわかりませんでした。
