The exhibition technique wise, this is a
simple exhibit, display case with interpretive panel nothing special.
However, this was another exhibit corner
impressed me most, an exhibition corner introducing the academic achievements
of the museum directors of the past.
The books of director were set inside a display
case, one case each for each director.
The publications are the evidence of their academic achievement and the
text on the panel covers personal history and achievement in his academic field,
as well as what he did during his director time in Natural History Museum.
I found knowing the directors achievement,
faith and personality, might not help understanding the contents of the academic
subject, but help understanding what this museum is about.

展示手法の観点から述べればこの展示は特に珍しいものではなく、単純に展示ケースと解説パネルを組み合わせただけのものです。
しかし、この大英自然史博物館の歴代館長の学術業績を紹介する展示コーナーには感服しました。
各展示ケースには館長の学術成果の結晶である著作が収められ、１ケースに一人づつ紹介されています。また、解説パネルには、各人の生い立ちから学術業績、信念や自然史博物館での活動についてなど説明されています。
確かに館長の業績を知っても、学術分野の理解には繋がりませんが、少なくとも自然史博物館への理解が深まる事は間違いありません。
