Manga to Exhibit 1 :’ Wonders of the fungi Exhibit’ , National Museum of Nature and Science /マンガが展示へ 1：「菌類のふしぎ展」国立科学博物館

This temporary exhibit was held few years ago in the National Museum of Nature and Science.  It was a fun exhibit and informative in same time, l learned a lot about fungi, how common they were around how much our daily lives were affected them.

Based on a manga, Japanese comic and cartoon titled Moyashi-Mon, this exhibit showed the scientific nature of the fungi as well as relation to our society.

The largely characterized fungi figures filled the exhibit space to visualize how common they are around our living environment.  Disney land is one way to sink into the

cartoon world and this is other way to do so.

I think I liked both….

Real Fungi, too

これは数年前に国立科学博物館で開催された展示です。この展示は菌類の事を知り、如何に私たちの身の回り溢れているかがわかる、良く出来た楽しい展示でした。

マンガ「もやしもん」をベースに、菌類についての科学的な側面と、私たちの社会との繋がりまでも見せていました。

Geological map: Natural Museum Nature and Science/ 地質地図：国立科学博物館

I have seen the geological maps, the ordinary printed on paper kinds for number of times in past.  However, this is first time seeing a geological map made with  ‘real’ rocks.

The map also is installed a monitor for providing  information.

Seeing real material on the map is much understandable, find new things and interesting!

今まで、普通の紙に印刷した地質地図は何度も見た事があります。しかし、本物の岩石を使った地質地図を見たのは初めてです。

地図の前には情報を伝えるモニターも設置されています。

実物の岩石を観れると、良くわかって発見があり、結構面白いですね。

The corner sign for this museum uses small diorama that shows the epic event in the local history.  The exhibit which follows the diorama tells you the whole story about the event diorama is representing.

Good way to leads visitors’ interest to the theme.

この施設のコーナーサインは地元の歴史上の出来事を小さなジオラマにしたものとなっています。展示を観ると、そのジオラマの元となった出来事を解説しています。

来館者の関心を高める良い工夫ですね。

One of the exhibit floors at the National Museum of Nature and Science used the corner sign that intergraded with well-crafted small model or replica artifact. 

One of the interesting ways to makes attractive graphic or whatever sign for the exhibit.  Also, using model would be able to give more information by its 3 dimensional property, shape, colour, texture and size etc.
The back lit graphic behind the glass case is informing what the model supposed to meant.
