The
Mizuko Kaizuka Museum which I picked up previously is located in this Mizuko Kaizuka
Park where the excavation site for the Jomon shell mound going back to 5,500 to
6,000 years. The park occupies roughly
40,000 square maters hold the museum, shell mounds excabation site, village pit
houses and surrounded by the nuts rich Jomon style forest. There are several round shaped white stone
patches on the park’s ground, which indicates the shape, size and location of
the shell mounds they found. Also, number
of pit houses is reconstructed above the actual locations.

The
Mizuko Kaizuka Park also has a workshop space with tables and benches beside
the museum, recreated old Jomon forest and open kiln for terracotta fired
activities. They often hold the workshops
for families, such as terracotta making, stone jewelry making and fire making
etc.
Also,
there is a very active local Jomon pottery club who adapts old pottery making methods
6,000 years ago, exploring the same type of clay and making the tools in old
way.

水子貝塚展示室は、5,500年から6,000年まで遡る貝塚の発掘現場だった場所に出来た水子貝塚公園の中に有る。公園は木の実を付ける植生の縄文の森に囲まれており、40,000平方メートルの広さの中に貝塚や竪穴式住居の集落跡がある。
公園敷地には貝塚の有った場所に白い石で丸い形が作られ、貝塚の形状と場所が解るようになっており、竪穴式住居も何棟か再現されている。
また、水子貝塚公園には展示室に隣接して、ワークショップ用のテーブルとベンチが設置、当時の森の再現もされており、土器の野焼きも出来る環境となっている。家族向けのワークショップとして、土器づくり、勾玉つくり、火起こしなどが頻繁に行われている。
また、6,000年前の技法で土器を作るサークルが有り、当時の粘土を探したり、当時の道具を作ったりなど活発に活動を行っている。
