Narrow entrance is common in designing
buildings, temple, church, residence and museum. Usually, a narrow corridor connects outside
(normal world) and inside (other world). The narrow pass way would function as
a transforming device for the visitor to ‘leave’ everyday world and ‘enter’ the
new world,

The narrow corridor design is kept simple, monotone and flat, then suddenly step into a wide exhibit space filled with colours and objects. This contrast feeling between ‘narrow and minimum’ and ‘wide and excessive’ would help visitor left all everyday obstacle behind and focus on the exhibits.

建築では、寺院や教会、住居や博物館など狭い入りのデザインは多くの使われています。通常狭い通路が広い二つの空間、外側（普通の世界）と内側（別世界）をつなぎ、来館者が日常の世界から離れ、新しい世界に足を踏み入れる装置としての役割りを果たします。

良い例として釧路博物館を取り上げます。博物館に入ると、高い天井の広いエントランス空間が来館者を迎え入ります。展示室には、そこから狭い通路を通って入っていきます。
通路空間は狭く、モノトーンで無機質な簡素な空間のデザインになっていて、通り抜けると突然、広く色と物の溢れる展示空間が目の前に現れます。この「狭くシンプルな空間」から「広く物の溢れる空間」への突然の空間変化は、来館者が日常を忘れ、展示の世界に集中することを助ける効果があります。
