Traditional hands on exhibit: London Tower Bridge Exhibition/昔からあるハンズオン展示：ロンドンタワーブリッジ博物館

In this world's top tourist spot, London Tower Bridge, there was a exhibit space and some of the displays were hand on machines, fun staff.

They were rather traditional exhibition items compare to the fancy IT interactive, but they were bullet proof and reliable.

Arabic numerals: Abu Dhabi International Airport /アラビア数字：アブダビ空港

When I was at the elementary school, they taught me the number in both Kanji, traditional Japanese character (一、二、三、四、五…), and Arabic numerals (1,2,3,4,5…).

Since then, I always thought Arabic nations use the Arabic numerals character widely used around the world….I was wrong….

Focusing on person: Al Jazari: Science Museum, London / 個人に焦点を当てる展示：ロンドン科学博物館

There is more common to see an exhibit that focusing on the individual person in the Museum.

Here is one of the examples from ‘1001 Innovations’ held in the Science Museum in London few years ago.

The theme of the show was today’s scientific and technological origin could go back to the 12 – 13 century Islamic science and introducing scientist or person individually.

In this exhibit the visitor meets particular Islamic scientist, engineer, doctor, merchant school principal and astronomer in 12-13 century and hear their lives through a movie that an actor was talking to the visitor about his/her life and achievement. The audio was controlled in this exhibit space and only listening through the handset installed in front of the monitor.

博物館の展示で個人に焦点を当てた展示は、最近よく見るようになってきました。このロンドンの科学博物館で数年前に開催された「1001の発明展」も良い例です。

展示のテーマは、今日の科学技術の源流は12-13世紀のイスラムの科学者達に遡り、その人たちを個人的に紹介するものです。

この展示では、12-13世紀のイスラム科学者、技術者、医者、商人、校長や天文学者の生涯を役者が本人の姿で来館者に語りかけ、個別に紹介しています。

この展示空間では音が制限されていて、音声はモニター手前の受話器で聞くようになっていました。

Look at this exhibit!  the glass wall case, back lit corner title, slanted graphic panels with flat monitor installed, nice case lighting, sleek black mesh ceiling, and so on. Beautiful exhibit space, calm, nice, solid and reliable feeling.

Whole space is dedicated to lead visitor’s attention to the artifact in the glass case.

Notice the graphic circle on the floor indicating the spot for the audio guidance.

この展示を見て下さい！ガラスのウォールケース、内照式のコーナーサイン、平面モニターを埋め込んだ斜めのグラフィックパネル、きれいなケース内照明、しゃれた天井メッシュ等々。静かでしっかりとした安心できる素晴らしい展示空間ですね。
