Hands on Exhibit: The National Museum of Japanese History / ハンズオン展示： 国立歴史民俗博物館

An old military rifle, Arisaka Type 38, which used by the Imperial Japanese Army from 1908 to the end of WWII was on display at the modern history zone at this museum.  Since Japan has a very strict rule for owning any kind of gun for civilians, practically no ordinary citizen has never had a chance to touch an actual fire arms. 

In this exhibition, genuine Arisaka Type 38 rifle was on display for try to pick and feel the weight.

Carefully designed and build the steel security flame that made possible to try a rare experience for visitors to pick up a rifle, since ordinary people are not permitted to own any kind of guns by low and bot much chance to even see guns around.

日露戦争後から第２次世界大戦終了までの間、旧日本帝国陸軍に正式採用されていた38式歩兵銃が本博物館の現代史の展示室に展示されています。我が国においては、一般市民が本物の銃器に触れる機会は皆無と言って良いのですが、本展示では触るだけでなく実際に持ちあげて重さを体感する事ができるような展示となっています。

防犯や安全に配慮した金属枠が造られ、来館者が自由に持ち上げられるよう工夫された展示です。

Multi Layered Exhibit: the National Museum of Japanese History /多層的な展示： 国立歴史民俗博物館

This exhibit corner is describing a rice planting festival which root back to 9^th century.  During the festival, a percussion like music instrument, ‘Bin-Zasara’,  was used and displayed it with life size costumed figure, enlarged old painting and hands on pieces for visitor to try making sound.

Those multi layered exhibit method helps visitor for better understanding on “unknown” subject.

この展示コーナーは、平安時代から続く田植え祭りに使われている「ビンザサラ」と呼ばれる楽器を、着衣をつけた人形、当時の絵画の拡大図、そして実際に触って音出しを試せるハンズオンの展示と、３つの側面から多層的に解説しています。

展示を多層化することで、理解の促進を図っています。

The vast number of magazines were published right after the world war under the new democratic Japanese system.  The clean glass shelves displayed dozens of those old publications and in front of the display case, a touch screen monitor is provided for searching the info.

戦後の民主国家成立に伴い発行された大量の雑誌が、ケース内のガラス本棚に綺麗に並べられています。何十冊もの古い雑誌が収められたガラスケースの前には、来館者が自分で情報検索できるタッチ・スクリーン・モニターが設置されています。

実物資料とデジタル技術が健全に組み合わさった展示ですね。
