Art in the public space: Ikabukuro West Gate Park / 公共の場のアート：池袋西口公園

The owl is a symbol bird for Ikebukuro area since the place name Ikebukuro is consisted with two kanji characters-, 池（ike） and 袋（fukuro or in certain cases pronounce as bukuro）and the Japanese name for an owl is fukuro.

Eventually, owl became the symbol for Ikebukuro for some time.
