There is a popular street for hip young people called ‘Center Gai’ which connected the world famous scramble crossing everybody have seen number of times when Shibuya is on the screen.

The other day I found this ‘Center Gai’ has another name, such as ‘Basketball Street’ which named by the local shopping district organization.

渋谷といえばいつも紹介される、世界的に有名なスクランブル交差点に繋がったこのセンター街の通りは、「バスケットボール　ストリート」という名前が付いていました。

センター街の商店街組合が名付けたようです。

The artist, Koji Kinutani is a well respected painter and this ceramic mural, titled as ‘Kira Kira Shibuya’, was created in 2008.  Same as his paintings, this mural gives lively impression that makes up lifting feeling.

絹谷幸二は著名な画家で、この「きらきら渋谷」と題された陶板壁画は、2008年に設置されました。彼の油絵作品のように、この作品も生き生きとしていて、見るものを元気付けてくれます。

Steam Locomotive Driving Simulator: Railway Museum / 蒸気機関車運転シミュレーター：鉄道博物館

This is the one of the kind driving simulator for Steam locomotive, D51 426.

The simulator uses actual cabin, all driving mechanisms are functional, pressure adjust valve, reverse lever and break for instance, don’t miss the whistle of cause!

The gages also are functional, cylinder pressure, boiler pressure, water pomp pressure, water level, break pressure and speed mater, etc.  They indicate the appropriate numbers according to the driving situations.

これはここでしか体験できないD51 426蒸気機関車の運転シミュレータです。シミュレータは実際の運転キャブを使っていて、内部の機器（加圧弁、逆転機、ブレーキ）などを操作できますし、警笛もちゃんと鳴らすことができます！

また、シリンダー圧力計、ボイラー圧力計、給水ポンプ圧力計、水面計、ブレーキ圧力計や速度計などの計器類も、運転の状況に連動して動作します。

The graphic panel and start button

This exhibit shows how the railroad switch works.  The switch cover is replaced with a clear acrylic cover, made all inside mechanisms are visible and the visitors could observe the movement when they push the start button.

This is not a fancy high-tech interactive exhibit, still attracts many attentions by its massive heavy steel impressions.

この展示は、鉄道のポイントがどのように機能するのかを見せるものです。

ポイントのカバーは透明アクリルに替えられ、来館者がスタートボタンを押すと内部の機構の動きが見えるようになっています。
