ATLAS Lego Model：Waseda University/ ATLASレゴ模型：早稲田大学

ATLAS is a particle physics experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN that is searching for new discoveries in the head-on collisions of protons of extraordinarily high energy.

A professor from Waseda University was one of the Japanese representatives on that project which over 2,800 physicists from 37 countries and 169 Institutions were involved.

There is a show case located in the hall near University's cafeteria where many students walk by.  They display the graphic panels for introducing the project and also showing the Atlas model created with Lego blocks.

The Lego model was designed by a researcher in Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen who was one of the scientist collaborated with the project.   The Lego Company was supported for providing the model kit; only 16 sets are manufactured and distributed among the organizations that participated the Atlas project.

早稲田大学の教授が日本の研究者の一人として、世界中から37カ国、169の研究機関に属する2,800名以上の物理学者が関係したこのプロジェクトに参加しました。

この展示はATLASの説明とともに、レゴ製のアトラスも紹介しています。

このレゴモデルは、このプロジェクトに参加していたコペンハーゲンにあるニールス・ボー研究所の研究者が設計し、レゴ社の協力を得て、わずか世界中で16セットだけ生産され、ATLASに関係した組織に配られたものです。
