Campaign sticker

This is another campaign poster that promoting the shops and restaurants near stations. The operation was run by the group called ‘Let’s Enjoy Tokyo’ and that included several railroad companies in Kanto area and a travel information company.

They will send you shops update, map and event around where you are by tracking your GPS location.  They also send you bells and whistles for points and gift, which keep you busy for a while to fill the game like requirements.

I also found same campaign sticker on the information map in the subway station.

これはまた別のプロモーションで、駅近くのお店やレストランとタイアップしたものです。Let’s enjoy Tokyoと言う関東地区の鉄道会社数社とグルナビが一緒になって運営しています。GPSを使って利用者の位置を把握し、周辺のお店の最新情報や近くの地図、イベント等の情報を提供します。また、その他にもミッションに参加すると、様々なキャンペーンやグッズが当たったりポイントをためる事が出来ます。また、地下鉄の駅構内の案内地図にも同じプロモーションのステッカーを見つけました。Let’s enjoy Tokyo

Old Science Fiction original illustrations : Shigeru Komatsuzaki / 昔のSF原画展：小松崎茂

Motorcycle tank

The CHEEPA'S GALLERY in Ginza had an exhibit for the original illustration of Shigeru Komatsuzaki. The exhibit shows his illustration for Pre WWII era Japanese Science Fiction magazine for juveniles called ‘Kikaika (Mechanization)”.  Because Japan was a military dominated society back then, the illustrations they published were all dream weapons like Flying tank, Motorcycle tank, Submarine tank etc. 
Komatsuzaki designed the inside mechanism and shown them in his illustration which looked real and had convincingly well thought

details.  Matsuzaki's illustration work is still quite impressive even today's standard.

His work had been influenced on post war generations of the Japanese Manga artists, Hayao Miyazaki and Osamu Tezuka for instance.

銀座にあるCHEEPA'S GALLERYでは、小松崎茂のイラスト原画展を開催していました。戦前の若者向け空想科学雑誌「機械化」に彼が描いたイラストレーションを展示しています。当時日本は軍部の影響が大きく、雑誌に掲載されているものは、空飛ぶ戦車、オートバイ型の戦車、潜水戦車など全部夢の兵器ばかりです。

小松崎は内部の構造もイラストにしており、その詳細はよく考えられていて、説得力のあるデザインです。彼のイラストは今日の基準に照らし合わせても充分ひけをとりません。

小松崎の仕事は、その後の戦後の漫画家達、宮崎駿や手塚治虫など、に大きな影響を与えました。

Little trick to encouraging the subway ride: Tokyo Metro /地下鉄利用促進の仕組み：東京メトロ

This is a campaign poster that announcing the Tokyo Metro’s newest promotion for encouraging more subway collaborating with a manga series, "Utyu-Kyoudai (Space Brothers)".

Fast, you down load the application and install into your own smartphone by either punch in the URL or scan the QR code printed on this poster.  After you installed the application, only thing you need to do is just place your smartphone’s camera toward the posters.  
Voila!  They will send you a point and photo frame as the gift.  Six stations have different posters and code, and if you collect points from more than three stations, you are eligible to apply another lottery for original goods, free gifts!

これは東京メトロが行っている利用促進キャンペーンのポスターです。まず、ポスターに印刷されているQRコードを使うか、自分でURLを入力してサイトにアクセスしてアプリをインストールします。その後は、スマホのカメラをポスターにかざすだけで、ポイントとフォトフレームがもらえます。全部で６駅にポスターがあり、3駅以上のポイントを集めたらオリジナルの景品が当たる抽選に応募出来ますヨ。

Bike frame builder : BYOB Factory Tokyo / 自転車フレームビルダー：BYOB Factory Tokyo

I found this interesting bike frame builder just in lucky coincidence while I was walking the downtown Tokyo.  The shop name BYOB that stands from ‘Build Your Own Bike’, not Bring Your Own Bottle, mind you. 

This is small bike frame factory and also runs the frame building course for people interested in building their own bike frame as a shop’s side activity.

Can you imagine one day you would ride a bike you made from scratch!

One more thing, when I stepped in the shop, the original bike was sitting on the floor, so original, different and good looking.

Fun place to visit!

東京都内を歩いていたら、運良く偶然にこの自転車のフレーム工場を見つけました。ショップの名前はBYOBファクトリー，「自転車自作工場」と言うような意味です。とても小さな工場で、工房と呼んだ方がふさわしいくらいですが、自転車のフレームを自作する講習も開催しています。

自分で一から自転車のフレームを創るなんて考えられますか？

素敵な自転車を見つけました。

オリジナル性にあふれ、とても独創的なカッコいい自転車です。

Joseph Beuys, a symbol exhibit in unexpected location: Neno-gongen Tenryu-ji temple / ヨーゼフ・ボイス 思いもかけない所で見つけたシンボル展示：子の権現 天龍寺

Neno-gongen Tenryu-ji in Chichibu Saitama is an old temple that build over 1100 years ago. The temple is well known to the divine favor on the leg problems. Over the centuries, people visited to this temple and played for the cure the leg problem or well-being.

The temple is located on the top of the peak and popular destination for the local bicycle riders because the steep climb to the temple is good for the hill climb training.  I went there in that reason and encounter a big discovery, Joseph Beuys footprint.  Joseph Beuys, modern conceptual and social artist, is one of the greatest artists in 20^th century.

I had no idea how and why his footprint is displayed in the old Buddhist temple, share the same space with other giant scale foot wares…Mystery.

埼玉県の秩父地方にある「子の権現」天龍寺は、1100年以上前に建てられました。足腰にご利益がある事で有名なお寺です。何世紀にもわたり、庶民が脚の病や健康を祈ってお参りをしてきました。

お寺は山の頂上にあり、地元のサイクリスト達にはヒルクライムの練習として良く知られた場所です。自分も練習で登ったのですが、凄いものを発見してしまいました。ヨーセフ・ボイスの足跡です。ヨーセフ・ボイスは現代美術のコンセプチャル（概念）アートや、社会アートの分野で活躍した２０世紀最大の芸術家の一人です。

なぜ日本一のサイズの草鞋が奉納されているような仏教寺院の境内に、どうゆう経緯で何のために彼の足跡が置かれているのか…謎です。
