The CHEEPA'S GALLERY in Ginza had an
exhibit for the original illustration of Shigeru Komatsuzaki. The exhibit shows
his illustration for Pre WWII era Japanese Science Fiction magazine for
juveniles called ‘Kikaika (Mechanization)”.
Because Japan was a military dominated society back then, the
illustrations they published were all dream weapons like Flying tank, Motorcycle
tank, Submarine tank etc.
Komatsuzaki designed the inside mechanism and shown them in his illustration which looked real and had convincingly well thought

details.
Matsuzaki's illustration work is still quite impressive even today's
standard.
His work had been influenced on post war
generations of the Japanese Manga artists, Hayao Miyazaki and Osamu Tezuka for
instance.
