A clear acrylic model of a nuclear power plant is installed on a monitor that in bedded in the exhibit base.

The front side of the monitor represents the ocean and uses the open monitor area for showing the text and graphics to describe the safety measure of the nuclear power plant against the sudden tsunami attack.

When particular building or breakwater is talked, the appropriate part of the model is lighted from the bottom.  Since underneath is flat monitor, it is easy to provide any shape and colour to lighten the model from the bottom.

Also, when the monitor showing the moving image of the tsunami over flowing the breakwater, the movie animation looks like moving towers to the power plant, go over the breakwater.  Because the moving image shown on the monitor underneath of the acrylic model, the tsunami image looks like as if going over the model’s breakwater.

Ocean in Front

透明のアクリル製の原子力発電所の模型が展示台に埋め込まれたモニターの上に設置されています。

モニターの手前側は海の設定で、その空間を使って津波等の被害時での原子力発電所の安全対策を説明する文章や図を表示しています。

特定の建物や防波堤等の説明をする時には、模型で該当する部分が光ります。底辺がモニターになっているので、模型に合わせた形の光や色を出す事は簡単に出来るのです。また、津波が防波堤を越える時の映像は、実際に海が防波堤を越えて来るようなアニメーションとなっています。透明のアクリル模型の下のモニターで海が移動して来る映像を映すと、上から見るとあたかも津波が防波堤を越えるように見えるのです。

興味深い技法ですね。
