During the subway renovation, the section of the stonewall for the outer moat of the Edo Castle was unearthed.  Now they made an exhibit corner for this finding and informed the Edo’s city planning.  The space was almost a small museum inside Ichigaya station where daily train commuters could appreciate the history of this site.

The exhibit include a recreated the outer moats’ stone wall, ancient Edo map printed on the floor with current city’s model on display, graphic panels describing Edo’s city planning, history and functional detail of this outer moat at that time.  How nice to have this rich informed exhibit was set beside the station passage.

地下鉄の延伸工事の時に江戸城の外堀の一部が発掘されました。 それをきっかけに江戸の都市計画の展示コーナーがつくられたのです。市ヶ谷駅の中にまるで小さな博物館のような空間が創られ、通勤利用者がこの土地の歴史を知る事が出来る様になっています。

展示は再現された外堀の石垣、江戸の古地図を印刷した床面、その床には現在の街の様子の模型が置かれ、解説パネルでは江戸の都市計画、外堀の歴史や機能についての説明がされています。

こんな中身の濃い展示が駅の中にあるなんて!
