Monument for the historic location: Sakuragi Cho Station /歴史的な場所のモニュメント：桜木町駅

This monument is to commemorate the first railroad build in 1872 between Shinbashi in Tokyo and Yokohama in Kanagawa.  The Yokohama station back then was in this area where currently Sakuragi Cho station is. 

Notice the base is designed a shape of locomotive wheel.

このモニュメントは、1872年に新橋横浜間に日本で最初の鉄道が開通したのを記念して建てられました。当時の横浜駅は、現在の桜木町駅あたりに有ったようです。

モニュメントの台座は機関車の車輪の形をしています。
