Exhibiting the renovation plan on the old building 1: International Library of Children’s Literature / 建築改修計画の展示１：国際子ども図書館

Exhibit is installed in the 

PC study space

This Library was originally build in 1897 as the Imperial Library then completed the renovation to convert as the International Library of Children’s Literature in 2002.  The architect for the renovation was world famous architect Tadao Ando.  He added the glass box addition on front and back of the old building that created practical and interesting interior space with the contrast between solid, heavy, opaque granite V.S. thin, light and transparent glass material.

There were several exhibits are displayed in the Library.

This one is, they created designated area for showing the history of the building from 1897 original building plan to latest addition include the advanced earthquake-resistant construction technology mostly by pictures and text on the graphic panels.

この図書館は帝国図書館として1897年に建設され、その後2002年に改修された国際子ども図書館として開館しました。改修は世界的に有名な建築家、安藤忠雄により設計されました。古い建物の前後にガラスボックスを増築し、厚く、重く、塊の石材と薄く、軽く、明るいガラスのコントラストが魅力的な、実用的でかつ美しいインテリア空間を創出しました。

この建築計画について紹介する展示が、図書館の中にはいくつかありました。

このコーナーは、1897年のオリジナルの建築の計画時から、最新の改修工事までの建物の歴史を見せています。展示のほとんどはグラフィックパネルにて、写真と解説文で説明され、最新の耐震技術についての説明もありました。
