Showing the design process: Sony Design MAKING MODERN / お持ち帰りのお土産：Sony Design MAKING MODERN

This exhibit was basically introducing Sony’s finished products, all finished and clean.

However, only this product, CD Walkman displayed with a block of wood beside.

The wood is exactly same size as the CD Walkman and had description telling a story during product development.  One day a Division Manager brought this wood block (W 130, D 130 and H40 mm) and told development team to make the player no bigger than this size.

It surely arouses the interesting when you see an artifact like this.

この展示会は、基本的にソニーの完成した製品を展示するものなので、全てきれいにまとまった完成品を見せています。

しかし、このCDウォークマンだけが、木片とともに展示されていました。

木片はウォームマンと同じ大きさで、横に開発開発中のエピソードの説明文があります。ある日事業部長がこの木片(W 130, D 130 and H40 mm)を手に現れ、新しいウォ−クマンは開発チームにこの木より大きくてはダメだと告げたとのことです。

こんな資料が展示されていると、一挙に興味が湧きますね。
