Manual calculator

Well, it is not fare to call them as ‘compute’, I admit.  However, back then, those were the closest thing people used for calculating the numbers, the abacus and hand clanking manual calculators.

Those tools became things of past now days, however some parents are still sending their children to the abacus lesson classes for expecting them to improve the mental arithmetic skills.

In this museum, two abacuses are placed on top of the glass cases .  If you are interested learning how to use the abacus, how about start from here? .

確かに「コンピューター」というには少し無理がありますが、そろばんや手回し式の手動計算器は、当時としては今のコンピューターの代わりに計算を手助けしてくれる道具でした。

もう時代遅れとなってしまった道具ですが、今でも子どもの暗算力を付けるためそろばん塾に通わせる親もいらっしゃいます。
