When you seriously consider designing an exhibit for astronomy, you will face the problem of deciding haw to reflect actual scale in the limited exhibit space.  You always have to scale down the objects, galaxy, fixed stars and planets, etc when you create models and illustrations.  The problem is, you can’t make all scaled models in same reduced scale, the size gap between galaxy and planet are ‘astronomically’ so huge, now you see the point.
If you design the train museum for instance, it would much easier, you make every models, say, in 1/50 scale, simple as it is.

I found the American Museum of Natural History, they work hard to overcome this UNIVERSAL problem.  They created the colour coded scale indication system, purple for 26 power of 10, blue for 20 power of 10 and yellow, green and so on.

天文学の展示をデザインする事を考え始めると、限られた展示空間内にどのように実際の「スケール感」を創りだせるのかと真剣に悩む事になります。

天文分野はスケールが大きいので、銀河、恒星、惑星など実際のサイズから縮小して展示する事となります。問題は、銀河系と恒星の大きさは「天文学的」に大きさに差があるので、全てを同じ縮尺にそろえる事が出来ない事です。

例えばもし鉄道の博物館なら、全ての模型を1/50でそろえてしまう事が出来ます。

アメリカ自然博物館では、10の26乗縮尺は紫、10の20乗縮尺はブルー、その他の縮尺も黄色や緑等で色分けした縮尺の基準を使っていました。
