Kitchen Kives

The most well known Japan’s metal forging product would be the Samurai Sword which combined layers of soft iron and steel.

The compound of the steel structure is the key as well as countless hammering for forging.  Traditionally, the steel was smelted from iron sand which had special property for hardness.

The black smiths adapted same technique to the kitchen knife.

Smelted steel

日本の鍛造製品で一番有名なのは、軟鉄と鋼を重ねて作る日本刀でしょう。鋼を何度も叩く鍛造技術と共に、鋼の素材構造が重要です。

伝統的には、高度の高い鉄を得るため、砂鉄を精錬して鋼を作っていました。

鍛冶職人は包丁を作るにも、同じ技術を注いでいます。
